Table tennis
The day started with the round of 16 of the men's and women's doubles. The German duo Sabine Winter and Nina Mittelham won clearly against the also German doubles Franziska Schreiner and Anett Kaufmann, but then had to admit defeat in the quarterfinals against the doubles Maria Xiao from Spain and Adina Mihaela Diaconu from Romania with 3:1.
The German men Dang Qui and Benedikt Duda also won 3:1 against the Slovakian-Serbian doubles team of Pistej and Karakasevic.
Germany's Ying Han, Sabine Winter, Nina Mittelham and Yuan Wan each played their way into the next round in their singles matches.
Germany's Patrick Franziska, Dimitrij Ovtcharov, Timo Boll, Dang Qui and Benedikt Duda all won in their singles matches and advanced to the "Round of 32."
Beach volleyball
Louisa Lippmann and Kira Walkenhorst won 2-1 in the group stage against the team from Lithuania. The doubles Sude/Borger, Laboureur/Schulz and Ittlinger/Schneider won their matches. Cinja Tillmann and Svenja Müller were narrowly defeated by the team from Spain Alvarez/Moreno.
Also in the men's group stage, the Germans Paul Henning/Sven Winter and Nils Ehlers/Clemens Wickler were eliminated with 2:1 each against the Austrians Dressler/Huber and Hörl/Horst. Philipp Huster and Simon Pfretzschner lost their match against the doubles team Samoilovs/Smedins from Latvia clearly 0:2.
Lukas Pfretzschner, on the other hand, with his partner Robin Sowa, narrowly won against the Austrians Ermacora/Pristauz with a score of 2:1.
Road cycling
In the women's race, Switzerland's Marlen Reusser won ahead of the Dutch Ellen Van Dijk and Riejanne Markus by more than six seconds. The two Germans, Lisa Brennauer and Lisa Klein, were able to fight their way to twelfth and 22nd place.
In the men's race, medals went to Switzerland's Stefan Bissegger and Stefan Küng and bronze to Italy's Filippo Ganna. Germany's Miguel Heidemann and Maximilian Walscheid finished 16th and 25th.
Sports climbing
In the women's bouldering and lead events, Slovenia's Janja Garnbret again held her own against her competitors. Silver went to Austria's Jessica Pilz and bronze to Slovenia's Mia Krampl. The only German Hannah Meul had to settle for fifth place in the new discipline after her silver medal in bouldering.
Athletics
In the women's heptathlon, the day started for Germany's Carolin Schäfer and Sophie Weißenberg with 100m hurdles, high jump, shot put and the 200m sprint. Currently, both are in sixth and seventh place with 3,707 and 3,706 points, respectively. Schäfer has already set a season best in the 100m hurdles and 200m dash. A medal would still be a big surprise. Olympic and world champion Nafissatou Thiam of Belgium clearly leads the field with 4,063 points.
Neele Eckhardt-Noack qualified first for the final in the women's triple jump with a personal best of 14.53m.
Henrick Janssen may also prove his skills once again in the final in the men's discus throw.
In the evening, the finals in the pole vault (gold - Wilma Murto/Finland; silver - Aikaterini Stefanidi/Greece; bronze - Tina Sutej/Slovenia) and hammer throw (gold - Bianca-Florentina Ghelber/Romania; silver - Ewa Rozanska/Poland; Bronze - Sara Fantini/Italy) of the women, as well as the triple jump (Gold - Pedro Pichardo/Portugal; Silver - Andrea Dallavalle/Italy; Bronze - Jean-Marc Pontvianne/France) of the men took place without German participation. The same was true for the men's (gold - Matthew Hudson-Smith/UK; silver - Ricky Petrucciani/Switzerland; bronze - Alex Haydbock-Wilson/UK) and women's (gold - Femke Bol/Netherlands; Silver - Natalia Kaczmarek/Poland; Bronze - Anna Kilbasinska/Poland) in men's 400m and 110m hurdles (Gold - Asier Martinez/Spain; Silver - Pascal Martinot-Lagarde/France; Bronze - Just Kwaou-Mathey/France).

Table tennis
In addition to the women's singles "Round of 32", the medal decisions in the men's and women's doubles finals will take place without German participation.
Sports climbing
In men's bouldering and lead, no German could qualify for the finals on Thursday. The eight climbers will start at 3 p.m. at Königsplatz with bouldering, followed by lead climbing from 5 p.m. on. Czech Adam Ondra is aiming for his third medal here in Munich 2022 in the newly combined format.
Canoe
On Thursday, the regatta facility in Oberschleißheim will be revived. Here, from 9 a.m. until shortly before 5 p.m., preliminary heats in the various disciplines of men and women will take place. At the end of the day, there will also be the first semifinals in the women's K2 1000m and men's K1 500m. Germany's Sebastian Brendel is considered a medal hope here, having already won 15 European titles.
Gymnastics
After the women on the first weekend, it is now the turn of the men in the Olympic Hall. The men's all-around final in the disciplines floor, pommel horse, vault, parallel bars, high bar and rings is scheduled for today.
The Germans Andreas Toba, Glenn Trebing, Nils Dunkel and Lukas Dauser will try to assert themselves here against the strong competition also for the team final on Saturday.
Beach volleyball
Starting at 10 a.m. at Königsplatz, the first knockout rounds of the women's and men's competitions will take place, before the women's round of 16 will start seamlessly from 6 p.m. onwards.
Athletics
The women's heptathlon will feature the long jump, javelin throw and 800m.
Jana Marie Lowka and Lea Wipper start in the morning at the Olympic Stadium with their javelin throw qualifications. At the same time, the women's 3000m steeplechase qualifier with Olivia Gürth, Elena Burkard and Lea Meyer will take place, closely followed by the men's 800m prelims where Christoph Kessler and Marc Reuther will try to qualify for the next round. In the women's 800m, Majtie Kolberg, Christina Hering and Tanja Spill will battle for qualification.
Joshua Abuaku and Constantin Preis will compete in the men's 400m hurdles at 11:25. In the women's event, Germany will be represented by Carolina Krafzik.
In the heats of the men's and women's 200m, Robin Erewa and Jessica-Bianca Wessolly as well as Alexandra Burghardt will fight for a spot in the semifinals, which will take place afterwards starting at 20:13.
Medal decisions will be made in the men's high jump, hammer throw and 1500m.
With Jonas Wagner, Tobias Potye and Mateusz Przybylko, three Germans want to win the title of European high jump champion. Gianmarco Tamberi from Italy and Ukrainian Andriy Protsenko are considered favorites here.
World champion Malaika Mihambo is the number one candidate for the women's long jump final in front of her home crowd. Merle Homeier also qualified for the final.
In the women's 5000m final, Konstanze Klosterhalfen will try again to grab a medal after her close fourth place in the 10,000m. Alina Reh and Sara Benfares are also in the mix at 9:30 PM.
