The TUM Practical Research Experience Program (TUM PREP) enables 50 students of select universities from the USA and Canada to participate each year in research projects at TUM during a minimum of 10 weeks of their summer break. In the context of this program, Alexander Miller from Purdue University joined the Biomechanics Team for his research stay. Under the supervision of Dr. Florian Paternoster, Alex investigated the influence of fatigue on high angle-cutting maneuvers. Cutting maneuvers are of special interest as they are associated with anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries especially in team-sports. In those sports, up to 80% of ACL-injuries are non-contact injuries and hence the goal of Alex’s research was to investigate the influence of fatigue on kinematic and kinetic parameters during such maneuvers.
We were glad to have Alex in our team and wish him all the best for his future.
