The Department of Sports and Health Sciences organized a summer party for employees and students together with the student council. At the beach volleyball and tennis facility of the Technical University of Munich (TUM), a mixture of science and practice awaited the participants.
Chairs presented scientific experiments
Various chairs presented scientific experiments that could be carried out at stands. For example, the Chair of Preventive Pediatrics of Dean Prof. Dr. Renate Oberhoffer chose an "eternal hero". A mixture of knowledge, for example about nutrition myths, and self-assessment, was required at six stations. Among other things, food was to be sorted according to sugar content, an obstacle course was to be completed with distortion glasses, or one's own heart rate could be assessed. The Chair of Preventive Pediatrics was supported by the Techniker Krankenkasse (TK). Together with the company, Prof. Oberhoffer's team is currently researching the needs and possibilities for student health management at the TUM.
Experiences with Augmented Reality were offered by the Chair of Human Movement Sciences of Prof. Dr. Joachim Hermsdörfer. In different experiments, participants experienced how insertions in augmented reality glasses can influence perception. The experiments originate from master theses, which are currently supervised by Nina Rohrbach.A cooling of the eyes was provided by the Unit of Applied Sports Sciences. Using virtual reality glasses, six different routes from the Ski Cross World Cup could be covered. As part of a project for the German Ski Association (DSV), these were filmed and prepared accordingly. The station showed that the degree of reality was so high that some people swayed on the green lawn. For the summer party, the teaching and learning center had set up a light barrier with which the shooting speed of a
soccer ball could be measured. In addition, a passing course could be carried out.
Tournament day of the Faculty of Sport and Health
In addition to the scientific stands, the Sports and Health Council held its summer tournament day and offered tournaments in beach volleyball and spikeball. In addition, the student council invited various food trucks and organized sponsors who were able to present themselves at stands.
