At the colloquium, Professor Grazyna Wasowicz-Kirylo and Professor Jörg Königstorfer presented current findings of their empirical research. In the extensive discussion, participants talked about cultural differences and similarities, such as the use of sport for development and the fight against Internet addiction in children and youth. PhD students and postdocs also presented their results. Rebecca Pfitzner (TUM) presented her results about the health impact of the FIFA World Cup, Felix Wemmer about innovation activities of German sports clubs, and Wojtek Kulczycki informed the audience about social corporate responsibility of sports clubs at mega sport events.
The event was hosted at the Department of Psychology at University of Warsaw in a historical building of the Gestapo in the Second World War. During their stay, participants had the chance the visit the old and new Warsaw. Furthermore, participants visited the city and University of Krakow, which left lasting impressions. Wojtek Kulczycki, Polish-speaking PhD student at the Chair of Sport and Health Management, put his local expertise into practice. In the future, the universities and chairs want to expand their cooperation, so that further students and teachers can profit from both Polish-German scientific exchange and friendship between the two neighbouring countries.
