Acute treatment is delivered by immunoglobulins, plasmapheresis or, in cases, cortisone and the prognosis is commonly positive and damage in most cases reversible. However, this takes time and during this time muscle atrophy occurs in motor GBS. Especially in persons with low relative strength, like elderly or overweight, dependency in daily life can be the consequence. In this case study, under the lead of the Ludwig-Maximilians-University Hospital, the extent to which the administration of human growth hormone can increase regeneration was investigated.
