Perfect interplay: medicine, nursing, economics and law
The composition of the commission on hospital reform covers the fields of medicine, nursing, economics and law. In addition, half of the members are scientists and half are practitioners with a scientific background.
Prof. Sundmacher is an expert in regional health services research as well as quality management and quality analysis in health care. She was commissioned by the Federal Joint Committee to write the major report on the further development of outpatient demand planning and is a member of the scientific advisory board for the further development of morbidity-oriented risk structure compensation at the Federal Insurance Office. In the last legislative period, she already served as a member of the Commission for a Modern Remuneration System for the Federal Ministry of Health.
"I am looking forward to the tasks ahead and to the trust that has been placed in me with this appointment," explains Prof. Sundmacher.
Goals of the hospital reform
20 years after the last major structural reform in hospitals, the system of diagnosis-related flat rates (DRG) in particular needs updating. In addition, emergency care must be better ensured, the nursing shortage must be eliminated, hospital financing must be restructured and hospital planning must be reorganized. The "working commission," as Lauterbach calls it, is not an "expert commission," but acts like a council of experts. This commission will also work out a proposal for the financing of outpatient and inpatient hospital planning.
