Profile

Leonie Sundmacher has held the Chair of Health Economics at the Department of Sport and Health Sciences at the Technical University of Munich since September 2020.

She studied economics, health economics and political science at the University of York and at the Free University of Berlin and received her doctorate in health economics from the Technical University of Berlin in 2010. From 2012 to 2013, Leonie Sundmacher held the junior professorship in the field of health services research and quality management in the ambulatory care sector at the Technical University of Berlin. She then followed her call to Ludwig-Maximilians-University of Munich, where she headed the Department of Health Services Management from 2013 to 2020.

Her research focuses on management in the health care sector, in particular intersectoral quality management and regional health services research.

Since 2016, Leonie Sundmacher has been a member of the expert advisory board of the Innovation Fund at the Federal Joint Committee and the scientific advisory board for health services research of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research. Since 2018, she has also been a member of the scientific advisory board to the risk adjustment scheme in the German Health Social Insurance (SHI) and a member of the expert committee for a modern reimbursement system in ambulatory care at the Federal Ministry of Health.
