The Associate Professorship of Conservative and Rehabilitative Orthopaedics headed by Prof. Dr. Thomas Horstmann is pleased to remind that the “CONNECT 2021 - Connective Tissues in Sports Medicine” congress will take place from 26 to 27 March 2021. The congress is being organized in cooperation with the “Fascia Research Group” lead by Dr. Robert Schleip and the Department of Sports and Rehabilitation Medicine at the University Hospital Ulm under the direction of Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Jürgen M. Steinacker.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the organizers have decided to hold the congress online. The congress will be held in English and a German translation will be provided.
Prof. Daniel E. Lieberman from Harvard University will be taking part as the new keynote speaker. Other speakers will include Prof. Irene Davis from Harvard Medical School (USA), Prof. Dr. Carla Stecco from the University of Padua (Italy) and Prof. Dr. Michael Kjaer from the University of Copenhagen (Denmark).
The program includes six plenary sessions lasting one and a half hours each, in which the keynote speakers will report on their research in the areas of “Evolutionary and Functional Aspects of Muscular Connective Tissue”, “Adaptation of Muscular Connective Tissue to Exercise/Training Stimulation” and “Influence of Age, Gender and Nutrition”, “Cytokines and Inflammatory Aspects”, “Muscular Connective Tissue Injury” and “Effect of Therapy/Training Interventions on Sport-Related Myofascial Pathologies”. During breaks, active exercise activities will be offered by sponsors. The presentations of the accepted abstracts will be made available to participants during and after the congress. Workshops are also planned both before and after the congress (25/28 March).
