Irmgard Badura, former Commissioner for the Disabled of the Bavarian State Government and currently advisor for the concerns of people with visual impairments or blind people at the Barrier-Free Advice Center, will be joined by Prof. Dr. Elisabeth Wacker, head of the Chair of Sociology of Diversity and Chair of the Scientific Advisory Board for the Federal Government's report on the living conditions of people with disabilities.
"We count more than 13 million people among the group of people with impairments," explains Prof. Wacker. "The number of those who are hindered in their participation in society is growing due to demographic developments and also due to the increase in mental impairments. Risks of loneliness and exclusion are also now becoming more visible in times of Corona. With a closing of ranks of services of general interest, between political actors, science and the expertise of people living with these particular risks, it may be possible to overcome multiple deficiencies in attention, communication and opportunities for participation. For this, this event is a welcome basis."
The discussion will be moderated by Kerstin Celina, Member of the State Parliament and spokeswoman for social policy for the Bündnis 90/Die Grünen parliamentary group in the Bavarian State Parliament. In accordance with the principle "Not without us about us", affected persons will have their say in addition to the two experts. In addition, during the online seminar questions in writing can be placed, which are to be brought in bundled into the discussion. The online seminar will be translated live by sign language interpreters.
