The "German Diversity Day" is an annually recurring, nationwide day of action that calls on organizations to champion diversity and create social awareness for diversity. This year, the 11th German Diversity Day will take place on May 23. TUM was the first German university to sign the Diversity Charta in 2007. By signing, TUM is committed to creating a working environment that is free of prejudice and exclusion. It aims to promote an open working culture based on inclusion and mutual respect.
For the first time, the future TUM School of Medicine and Health will host a joint Diversity Awareness Week from May 22 to 26, 2023, at the TUM Campus in the Olympiapark and the Klinikum rechts der Isar. An interactive Diversity Awareness Week is planned with various offers for employees and students to inform and educate themselves about diversity-related topics.
"The aim of the Diversity Awareness Week is to take a look at various diversity dimensions and their interplay and to consider their relevance for students, researchers and for or in everyday hospital life," explains Andrea Göttler, Diversity Officer at the Department of Sport and Health Sciences. "The further development of the talent management and diversity strategy of the future TUM School of Medicine and Health is an important task for the next months. That's why we want to use this week to gather needs and insights from staff and students and incorporate them into the School's diversity concept."
The Diversity Week will kick off with an event at the Department of Sport and Health Sciences on the topic of diversity in sport, health and medicine research.
