Representation of the parametric method of the Latent Class Analysis (LCA) contrasting or supplementing with the nonparametric method of configuration frequency analysis (KFA), which relies on scale variables, such as the LCA, on nominal variables and also represents a person-oriented analysis method. In the comparative, practical application, it often turns out that (1) the KFA is capable of validating LCA results and (2) is capable of describing in more detail the meaning of the latent classes found in the LCA

- Evaluation of categorical data with the free statistical environment R.
- Parametric method of Latent Class Analysis (LCA) contrasting / complementing with the nonparametric method of configuration frequency analysis (KFA).
- Comparative, practical use of KFA to validate LCA results.
- Content meaning and description of the found latent classes from the LCA.
- Repeating key features of R and R-Studio.
On the basis of exemplary data from practice, the necessary steps for classification are explained with both methods and practically carried out together with the participants. Various packages are used, such as poLCA and confreq for the free statistical environment R.
Date: Fri /Sat, 29./30. Nov 2019
Time: Fri, 2pm - 6pm, Sat, 9am - 6pm
Registration deadline: 4 weeks prior to the event (later registration only possible if there are remaining seats!)
The workshop requires a separate computer (laptop) with an installation of R and R-Studio. Ideally, the participants have at least basic knowledge of R and R-Studio. Depending on the level of knowledge, a short introduction to R and R-Studio will be given on the first day of the course.
Doctoral candidates of the Faculty of Sport and Health Sciences, doctoral candidates of the TUM of other faculties, methodically interested persons.
