Welcome to the Assistant Professorship of Educational Science in Sport and Health
The promotion of an active and healthy lifestyle for children and adolescents especially in the school setting represents the research focus of the Assistant Professorship of Educational Science in Sport and Health. Based on a social-ecological approach, personal, social and environmental factors are taken into account during the development and evaluation of projects and therefore, a change in behavior and relation in this context are sought. The results of the intervention studies are expected to lead to a better understanding of the effectiveness of measures seeking to increase physical activity of children and adolescents. The development and scientific evaluation of theory-based, randomized intervention studies is based on the results of the synthesis of systematic reviews, meta analyses as well as the analysis of already existing data of cohort studies. The insights gained during research are distributed into practice via various channels in order to maximize the benefits for society. The consideration of gender forms a cross-sectional topic in the research work at the Assistant Professorship and will consequentially be taken into account during all projects and publications.
