Internationalization at Home
In cooperation with the Norwegian School of Sport Sciences (NIH), Bachelor's and Master's students can participate in the "Internationalisation at Home" programme and have successfully completed courses at the NIH recognised for the elective area of their studies at TUM.

Application: For a nomination for this programme, please send an e-mail to international.sg(at)tum.de stating your name, matriculation number, date of birth, degree programme, study cycle (Bachelor or Master) and name of the module at the NIH. You will receive further information from the NIH once you have been nominated by our International Affairs Delegate, Mrs Fried.
The application deadline is 1 June for the Winter Semester and 1 December for the Summer Semester.
Report on the ongoing Cervical Cancer Awareness, Screening, and Treatment (COM-CAST) project
During February and March 2023, as a part of the ongoing Cervical Cancer Awareness, Screening, and Treatment (COM-CAST) project, a Ghanaian-German research collaboration, multiple workshops, and field visits were conducted in Ghana and Germany. Workshop 1 (W1) was hosted by the Western Regional Health Directorate of the Ghana Health Service in Takoradi, Ghana between 27th February and 8th March 2023. Chair of Epidemiology, TUM hosted Workshop 2 (W2) at the TUM Science & Study Center in Raitenhaslach, between the 20th and 26th of March 2023. During the workshops, field visits to the Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound (in Ghana), teaching hospitals, regional hospitals, and laboratories in Ghana and Germany were undertaken. Between the 29th and 31st of March, Prof. Dr. Stefanie Klug (Chair of Epidemiology, TUM) along with four co-applicants from Ghana attended a status workshop hosted by DFG in Bonn, Germany.
The COM-CAST project aims to identify strategies and define a comprehensive and sustainable community-based cervical cancer prevention program in the Western region of Ghana with a transdisciplinary approach by involving members from across the fields of public health, sociology, epidemiology, and medicine. This project is funded by DFG under the African-German Scientific Exchange in the Field of Public Health.
TUM PREP
In the framework of the Practical Research Experience Program (TUM PREP), TUM invites each summer excellent students from Northern American universities and the Imperial College London to spend an approx. 9-week research stay at TUM. Participating students gain valuable insights into research work at TUM and enhance their technical and methodological qualifications.
We are proud to welcome four students from the USA to our Department of Sport and Health Sciences this summer semester 2023. The selected students will participate in the TUM PREP programs "Motor Control and Perception for Object Manipulation" by Prof. Dr. Hermsdörfer, "Impact of exercise on Food Intake" by Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Köhler and "Individual circadian health care - using chatbots to promote circadian and sleep health (Light Bot)" by Prof. Dr. Spitschan.
Final report on the international summer school „One Health and the Role of Water“ in Kilifi, Kenya
From 14 to 22 March 2022, the Pwani University (PU), the Taita Taveta University (TTU) and the Technical University of Munich (TUM) jointly organized the international summer school “One Health and the Role of Water” in the Kenyan city of Kilifi. In total, students from eight different countries as well as lecturers from different research institutes in Kenya and Germany participated in the summer school.
The One Health summer school provided an overview of the topic One Health and water. Applying an interdisciplinary and international approach to the field of One Health, the students gained new knowledge to develop innovative ideas and research perspectives. The intensive week aimed in the first place at fostering networks among students and researchers, to strengthen research capacities and to enhance understanding for the pioneering research field in the context of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (WASH). The summer school was financed by the VW Stiftung and brought together participants from different African and European countries.
The final report contains the summer school program as well as specific contents, participating lecturers and students and the results, which have been achieved during the week.
