On October 13, the Technical University of Munich (TUM) invites you to attend their Open House Day. On the occasion of the celebration of their 150th year of existence, the university opens its gates at all locations. The Department of Sport and Health Sciences takes part with experiments, guides, presentations and lectures at the TUM campus in the Olympic Park (Connollystr. 32) between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. (Prevention & Performance Lab). Entrance is free. All events at the TUM campus in the Olympic Park can be reached barrier-free.
"The staff members of our faculty have arranged a very attractive program. We will present our faculty in its entirety and demonstrate both classical and innovative technologies of the sport and health sciences," explains the dean, Prof. Dr. Renate Oberhoffer.
Science made experienceable: Numerous offers available
Science made experienceable – this could be the slogan. Afterall, a whole set of offers have been conceived in such a way that interested individuals can try them out themselves. For example, the visitors can test their lung function, determine their jumping power and leaping height on a force measurement plate, or see how Augmented Reality glasses can be used in rehabilitation. In addition, sport-motor tests are offered and one can observe the activity of one's own muscles using electromyography (EMG).
Presentation of sport-scientific experiments and methods
Various sport-scientific experiments and methods will be demonstrated throughout. For example, movements in space, modelled three-dimensionally based on camera images. In a nutrition course, answers to nutrition questions will be presented experienceably. By means of an electroencephalograph (EEG), a "view" of the brain will be presented and it will be clarified as to which areas are involved through which tasks.
At 11:00 a.m., 01:30 and 04:00 p.m., the faculty will be introduced in a presentation, followed by guided tours to the Prevention & Performance Lab around 11:30 a.m., 02:30 and 04:30 p.m. The student body of the Department of Sport and Health Sciences will offer snacks and beverages and inform you about their activities.
