Four post-docs, 13 doctorates and 500 other graduates will be honored in a ceremonial atmosphere on Friday by the Department of Sport and Health Sciences on the occasion of the completion of the year 2018. At 3:00 p.m., the graduation will begin in the Audimax of the Technical University of Munich (TUM) (main grounds on Arcisstrasse).
The academic celebration will be opened by the Dean, Prof. Dr. Renate Oberhoffer. Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. mult. Wolfgang A. Herrmann has also given his assurance that he will be present at the graduation. The president of the TUM will address the graduates in a speech hailing achievements at their "alma mater", the TUM. Dr. Heidrun Thaiss, Executive Director of the Federal Centre for Health Education, has been won as a ceremonial speaker. Dr. Thaiss will hold a lecture on the "Necessity for and Legitimization of Preventive Measures and the Requirement for a Paradigm Shift from Curation to Prevention as well as on Professional Prospects for Sport and Health Scientists".
Among the further points of program are the award of the "Diversity Prize". With this award, endowed with €500, the department honors an outstanding final thesis related to diversity. The best scientific work in the field of applied sport sciences will receive the "Dr. Gertrude Krombholz Prize". This prize, which is endowed with €500, will now have been awarded for the 21st time. Nineteen final theses have been submitted by students, three of which will be personally distinguished by the benefactress.
Between the individual points of the program, students of dance as well as acrobats will perform. Acting as guides through the afternoon are the Dean, Prof. Oberhoffer as well as the Deans of Studies, Prof. Dr. Filip Mess (teaching profession) and Prof. Dr. Jörg Königstorfer (bachelor's & master's degrees).
Following the official program, the department invites all participants of the graduation to attend a champagne reception at around 5:15 p.m.
