In Germany, the Faculty for Sport and Health Sciences is among the best institutions for the sport sciences. In the CHE Ranking from 2015, the faculty of the Technischen Universität München (TUM) is in place two. In nine criteria, it is among the leaders of the group.
"In comparison with the last ranking, we have improved from twentieth to the second place. That is an enormous achievement for our entire faculty", explains Prof. Dr. Ansgar Schwirtz, the Dean of the Faculty for Sport and Health Sciences.
Among the leaders of the group in nine categories
In comparison with 2012, the TUM faculty has improved dramatically. A detailed evaluation lists 24 categories which are classified into top, middle and bottom groups. The TUM Department of Sport Sciences is in the top group nine times, in the middle group fifteen times and not at all in any of the bottom groups.
Found in the top group are, for example, publications per professor and relationship to professional practice. "This shows that we have a very good scientific team and, at the same time, that we offer our students good training", summarizes Schwirtz.
CHE: Five categories - the most comprehensive rating
The CHE ranking is the most comprehensive and detailed university ranking in Germany. In a three-year rhythm, various disciplines in Germany are compared and subsequently published as ZEIT study leaders. Five different evaluations are included in the ranking: A publication analysis, a specialist interview - here, facts are collected involving, among other things, personnel and third-party funding - as well as a professor interview whereby the German professors evaluate their colleagues. In addition, students of each faculty are also questioned.
