"Innovative economics and management in sports" is the motto for the 22nd annual Convention of the Working Group on Sport Economics. The scientific convention was organized at the Chair of Sport and Health Management by Prof. Dr. Jörg Königstorfer and his team. From May 24 to 26, two keynote speeches and a total of 36 individual lectures will be held. Approximately 80 participants will come to the conference at the Department of Sport and Health Sciences.
"We consciously chose the topic, 'Innovation', since, like no other university in Germany, the Technical University of Munich stands for this - for example with the 'MakerSpace', the prototype workshop for students," explains for Prof. Königstorfer, who also holds the office of Student dean at the Department of Sport and Health Sciences. To advance innovations in enterprises, is one of the main tasks of this management, according to Königstorfer. "Especially in the field of sports, this is the case, for instance with trend sports which are associated with new technologies," says the professor for sport and health management.
Keynote speaker from the US
Among the high is counts the keynote lecture ("Thinking outside the arena: Innovation in sport management and its implications for future research and practice") by Prof. Dr. Jason Bocarro (North Carolina State University).During the annual convention of the Working Group of Sport Economics, this is the first time that an international keynote speaker will speak."Professor Bocarro is an outstanding expert on this topic. Based on his research results, a number of different laws have already been changed in the United States," says Königstorfer.
Further topics of the individual sessions are, among other things, "Sports betting: Challenges and solution types", "Management in professional soccer", "Challenges in sport clubs" or "Honorary commitments to sports".
A special feature of this congress is that the topic of "sustainability" has also been taken up purposefully in the planning. "In the congress organization, it was important to us that sustainability be taken into consideration and that special incentives be set," explains Königstorfer. Examples for this conversion are the ticket for the convention with which one can also use the public transportation services, or the food ordered, which all originates from the region. In addition, participants who arrive here by train will also receive a small gift upon registration.
