"kidsTUMove" winter camp and online scavenger hunt until Easter

Even though the carnival vacations will not take place this year due to the decision of the Bavarian state government, "kidsTUMove" offers the right change from the "home schooling" or emergency care everyday life in the week from February 15 to 19!

In collaboration with the TUM Family Service, the "DU und ICH - Fit im Online Camp!" sports activities offered are pre-recorded and can thus be accessed at any time from home or on the road. The online camp therefore does not overlap with "home schooling", but can be completed as needed during free time. After prior registration, the "kidsTUMove" team sent a material package to the participants' homes in advance.

"The advantage of the virtual exercise offer is a certain anonymity, not having to show a movement process in front of others, but being able to simply try out what works in a playful way and animated by trained trainers," says Prof. Dr. Renate-Oberhoffer-Fritz, Dean of the Department of Sports and Health Sciences and head of the Chair of Preventive Pediatrics. "In addition, it eliminates the need for even distant children to travel to the winter camp and worry about what it might be like far from home. The number of participants speaks for itself: 300 children have registered - a huge success! A thousand thanks goes out to the kidsTUMove team for their innovative ideas and courage to break new ground!"

And even after the winter camp there will be no boredom! The "Winter magic for you at home" camp starts directly afterwards, with various puzzles to be solved as part of an online scavenger hunt until Easter. Those who successfully complete will then be entered into a prize draw.

"Although we cannot hold the two camps in attendance due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we naturally hope that the children will diligently participate in the online formats until Easter and that we will be able to shorten the time until then with our sports offerings," explains Christina Sitzberger from the Chair of Preventive Pediatrics, who organizes the camps together with Nicola Stöcker, Miriam Gedik and Dominik Gaser. "We are particularly concerned that the children have fun and also get enough exercise at home!"
