Vera Tillmann

Short Profile

Vera Tillmann (b. 1979) wrote her PhD dissertation on “Participation in the Transportation System in the Life of Persons with Intellectual Disabilities”. Her other interests include participatory aspects in sport-related contexts, sexuality in the life of persons with intellectual disabilities as well as accessibility (traffic and spatial design).

Vera Tillmann studied Educational Science at the Technische Universität Dortmund with a focus on pedagogics for persons with intellectual disabilities. After spending a year abroad in California, she established and managed a service to support families in Menden, a service integrated in the Verein für Körper- und Mehrfachbehinderte e.V. [Association for Persons with Physical and Multiple Disabilities]. From 2007 to 2014, she worked at the Technische Universität Dortmund: initially as a Research Assistant then as an Adjunct Teacher at the Chair of Rehabilitation and Educational Science for Persons with Intellectual Disabilities. She joined the Sociology of Diversity Chair as a Research Assistant from March 2014 to September 2014.
