MISSION STATEMENT
Building bridges: Basic Research - Elite-Sports - Prevention
The Associate Professorship of Biomechanics in Sports bothers, on the one hand, biomechanical questions in (competitive) sports with application-oriented, as well as in medical fields of prevention and rehabilitation sport, or ergonomics. On the other hand there’s a further working focus in the field of basic research in muscle mechanics and muscular strength together with the development and conception of performance diagnostics.
The lectures’ and tutorials’ contents range from the basics of biomechanics up to biomechanical diagnosis in different fields of application, to muscle mechanics and mathematical modeling of muscle and of movements' stimulation. At that point, we set a great didactical value upon imparting both established theoretical knowledge and implementable skills.
Furthermore there’s an official cooperation agreement with the “Olympiastützpunkt Bayern (OSP)” which ensures a tight interlocking between science and competitive sport. In this particular, the professorship conducts sports performance diagnostics as a scientific advice. Besides, the national teams of cross-country skiing and of ski-jumping of the German ski federation (DSV) are scientifically guided during their trainings camps.
