Many of those participants are at pre-frail or frail condition, according to the Frail Index criteria developed by Fried et al. in 2001. Our partner Madopa in Paris, France and the Department of Human Movement Science from the Technical University of Munich, Germany, search for collaborations among geriatric clinics, nursing homes and different elderly collectives, and they take part in several events specially designed for health promotion for this population. Only recently the project was presented at an information day for seniors in Hallbergmoos and met with a positive response.
The involvement on the pilot study is really easy, they need to wear the watch the maximum time possible during day and night; they are interviewed at the beginning and end of the experiment to guarantee the correct progress of the testing. The researchers plan to conduct the testing until end of October, where the analysis phase will begin. The results of this phase will end in the improvement of the fall detection algorithm included in the watch through Lola app, and aims to directly influence the prevention of falls in the future among the frail population.
