„Sport Science in the Heart of Arts” – this was the motto of this year’s ECSS congress held in Seville. In an invited symposium, chaired by Prof. Joachim Hermsdörfer, dealing with the “Dimensions of health threats due to head impacts in soccer” and a poster presentation on the effects of soccer heading on the development of cognitive and sensorimotor performance in female soccer players (Jan Kern), members of the Chair of Human Movement Science shared initial findings of their research on the potentially adverse effects of heading in soccer. While the two contributions were a perfect fit to the interdisciplinary program of the congress and enabled lively scientific discussions, the evenings in Seville also offered the opportunity to get together and exchange ideas on a social level.
