A bilateral summer-school and pushing research through collaborative projects in at least three areas in tennis: Technological Officiating Aids, mathematical modeling of competitions and position detection. Following the workshop’s title “New directions of performance analysis in tennis”, members and (PhD-) students presented current research projects and discussed ideas for new research projects as well as ways to establish a sustainable academic exchange. Besides the project director Dr. Otto Kolbinger, the chair was represented by char holder Prof. Dr. Martin Lames and the external PhD-students Frederic Rothe and Chenyuyan Yang. Twelve members participated from the Charels University, including the project manager Dr. Jan Carboch, the former elite tennis player Jan Vacek (PhD-student) and Dr. Tomáš Malý, who serves as a sport scientist for the football team of Sparta Prague besides his work at the university.
The chair expresses its gratitude to the Bavarian-Czech Academic Agency, whose funding made this exchange possible, and to the colleagues from Praha for the hospitality.www.btha.cz
