On the 1st June, Veronica Bessone presented "The Science behind an Olympic gold medal" in Odeonplat, Munich, on behalf of the Soapbox Science.
Soapbox Science is a novel public outreach platform for promoting women scientists and the science they do. The idea is to bring science int othe squares involving people who are not normally in touch with research. The event was born in the UK, and transforms public areas into an arena for public learning and scientific debate; they follow the format of London Hyde Park’s Speaker’s Corner, which is historically an arena for public debate.
In her one-hour talk, Veronica promoted Sport Biomechanics as research that from one side is improving the performance of the athletes, and from the other side it is helping the deveolpment of safer sport techniques and materials also for sporty people.
